PokeRivals: privacy policy
PokeRivals is a free web game of real-time Pokémon battles, made as a personal project. This page explains what data it uses, what for, and how to delete it. The general rule is to keep as little as possible.
Playing without an account
You can play against the computer and in rooms by code without creating any account. In that case no personal data is stored: the nickname you choose only lives as long as the room does.
Account (optional)
If you sign in with Google or Discord, sign-in is handled by Supabase, which receives your email address and your account identifier on that service from Google or Discord. We don't copy or show your email or your real name: in our database we only keep an internal identifier, the username you choose in the game, a randomly generated friend code, the chosen trainer and the dates you signed up and last signed in. Your friendships (requests, accepted friends and blocks) are also stored so the list works across sessions. Your Google or Discord password never goes through the game.
That data is used only to make the account work: recognizing your username, showing your friends whether you're online and inviting you to a room. It is not sold or shared with third parties.
Deleting your account
From the friends panel, the "Delete account" option removes your profile, your friendships and your Supabase user. It is immediate and cannot be undone.
Anonymous telemetry
When a match ends, the game sends an anonymous summary (duration, format, result, approximate latency and performance metrics such as frames per second). It does not include your username, email, account identifier, IP address or the content of the match. It is used to balance the game and spot performance problems, and it is deleted after 60 days. If your browser has the "Do Not Track" signal turned on, nothing is sent.
Data in your browser
The game stores in your browser (localStorage) your session if you signed in with an account, your team and some display preferences. It doesn't use tracking or advertising cookies.
Servers
The page is served from Vercel and the match server runs on Fly.io, in São Paulo (Brazil). The accounts database is on Supabase, in the same region. All connections are encrypted (HTTPS and WSS).
